The project
Containers to grid, one team
Kalasar is a 57.5 MW / 115 MWh, two-hour battery energy storage plant in Rajasthan, built for a leading Indian power utility. EHV Engineers carried out the complete electrical installation of the BESS yard, along with the associated cabling and civil works, and supported testing and energisation.
The plant is made up of 28 containerised battery blocks of 5 MWh each, connected through 56 power conversion systems to seven 10 MVA inverter-duty transformers and evacuated at 33 kV. Auxiliary power comes from 1.6 MVA auxiliary transformers.
Around 51 km of power, control and communication cable was laid and terminated across the yard, linking the battery blocks, PCS, transformers, EMS/SCADA, UPS and NIFPS fire protection systems.
The plant was commissioned and has been live since the end of September 2026.
